Hip-hop artist, actor and author of “Let Love Have the Last Word,” Common, will headline the 2019 Promax Conference in downtown Los Angeles.
The Oscar, Emmy, Golden Globe and three-time Grammy award winner will sit down with Cleo Wade, poet, artist and author of best-selling book Heart Talk: Poetic Wisdom for a Better Life, for a keynote conversation during the world’s largest entertainment marketing event.
“Earlier this year, Promax launched a new brand and campaign around the theme, ‘We Love What You Do,’” said Steve Kazanjian, president and CEO of Promax, in a statement. “So it’s incredibly fitting to spotlight artists such as Common and Cleo Wade, whose work embraces this message of love, community, and diverse storytelling.”
This year’s Promax Conference, which takes place June 4-6 at the JW Marriott at L.A. Live, also will feature additional content and programming to serve the ever-changing needs of the entertainment marketing community.
Promax will host an invite-only day of programming on June 3 for current Promax members who are in between jobs. With the help of experts, the day will offer job-transition insights, skills and tools to help those in transition take the next step in their career.
“Promax proudly supports the career development needs of our members throughout the year, but as we see our community face the pain of job loss — and the excitement that comes with shifting into new areas – it is critical that we step up and provide them with the tools and skills they need to thrive in this new competitive landscape,” Kazanjian said. “We are adding a day to our agenda as a way of telling our community that Promax has their professional backs.”
The Promax Conference 2019 also will include three “Deep Dives” on Tuesday in the subject areas of Leadership Now, Direct to Consumer, and Streaming Creative. That’s on top of main-stage headliners and sessions on sports marketing, over-the-top, rebranding and more on Wednesday and Thursday.
The event will be capped off Thursday with the annual Promax North America and Global Excellence awards, honored with a gala ceremony.
Other scheduled speakers scheduled to bring their expertise and insights to the Promax community are design luminary Debbie Millman, and fashion designer and author Dana Spinola.
Senior marketing executives who will be leading sessions include ABC Entertainment’s Becky Daugherty, Amazon Studios’ Mike Benson, Hulu’s Ryan Crosby, AMC Networks’ Linda Schupack, Viacom’s Josh Line, Walt Disney Pictures’ Jackson George, Freeform’s Tricia Melton, Universal Pictures’ Maria Pekurovskaya and CNN’s Whit Friese.
