Life is about to change when 47 refugees from a war-torn country 180 years in the future wash up on the beach of a small fishing town in Oregon.

Steve Zahn stars as Sheriff Jude Ellis, who relocated from Oakland, Calif., to escape a strained marriage and a dark past as a big city cop, with plans to build a quiet new life for himself and, eventually, his young son. As the Feds set out to uncover the truth behind the mysterious migration, Jude will launch an investigation of his own with the help of his loyal Sheriff’s Deputy, and Port Canaan native, Nestor Rosario (Rick Gomez).

The Shop created a spot for ABC’s upcoming series focusing on the moment the refugees arrive, fleeing from a war that hasn’t yet happened.

“Cut to evoke a striking sense of intrigue and complimented by an ethereal track, this mysterious piece will strike chords with viewers reminiscent of Lost and other such supernatural/sci-fi hits,” according to The Shop.

The Crossing premieres Monday, April 2 on ABC.
