The first look for Comedy Central’s newest scripted comedy series is here, and it proves that side hustling isn’t as easy as it seems.
South Side follows two recent community college graduates who are stuck working at a local rent-to-own company. In order to achieve their entrepreneurial dreams, they establish a side hustle in their working-class neighborhood—however, it’s met with some challenges.
The trailer shows the Chicagoans shopping for discounted popcorn, smoking, and dancing as they embark on their journey to success. The series, which is filmed on location in Englewood, Chicago, offers an authentic look at the neighborhood by showing real people from the area, such as astronomers, teachers, and the local youth.
South Side is executive produced by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon alumni Bashir Salahuddin, Diallo Riddle and Michael Blieden. Salahuddin and Riddle also star in the series alongside Sultan Salahuddin and Chandra Russell.
The series will premiere this summer on Comedy Central.
