In Netflix’s Black Mirror episode “Nosedive,” Lacie (Bryce Dallas Howard) breaks down as her high social media status plummets on an app people use to rate one another.
Now, global content producer Endemol Shine North America and game publisher and distributor Asmodee North America have turned that concept into a board game that features a social media component.
Modeled after the episode, players are challenged to create a “perfect” life by collecting Lifestyle Cards, and avoiding any “dings” to their Social Score. The board game integrates with a free Nosedive app that “features light social and strategic gameplay that is engaging, interactive and accessible for new players.” It includes more than 1,000 experiences for players to impress their friends and improve their social standing.
Designed for three to six players ages 13 and older, a game lasts about 45 minutes. It becomes available November 25 at Target for $19.99, just in time for the holidays.
