The Roseanne effect was on full display in this year’s broadcast upfront, with networks picking up several reboots—including CBS with Magnum P.I. and Murphy Brown and The CW with Charmed and Fox reviving Last Man Standing.
New comedies were in short supply, and in general the networks seemed to mostly be conservative in their pick-ups, with the exception of ABC. Overall, 76 new series will join broadcast networks’ schedules in 2018-19, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
