Coinciding with the premiere of its 17th season, Project Runway is extending its efforts to make fans’ design dreams come true.
The wildly popular reality show announced the addition of its new companion series, Runway Remake, hosted by Project Runway All Stars winner Mondo Guerra. The digital series will premiere on Bluprint, Project Runway’s official DIY partner, allowing fans to tackle design challenges and re-create their very own runway looks from home. In addition to Guerra, viewers will be guided by instructors like actress/sewist Marcy Harriell, sculptor/interior designer James Worsham and more.
Although Runway Remake can easily serve as a standalone DIY show, the 9-episode spinoff extends the brand of the 15-year-old flagship series that returned to Bravo on March 14.
Runway Remake comes almost two years after NBC Universal took majority stake of the Denver-based digital network formerly known as Craftsy. In 2018, the video-learning network rebranded into subscription VOD service Bluprint, adding health, home décor, music, writing, dance, yoga and fitness to its list of covered topics.
Since its rebrand, Bluprint has integrated the DIY brand into several networks and shows, such as Bravo’s Top Chef. In the competition show’s recent Restaurant Wars episode, experts from the subscription service advised competing teams on the design and decor of their restaurants, furthering Bluprint’s efforts to inspire creators in its newly-added categories.
Inspiration will also become more accessible as Bluprint announced the launch of its new mobile app. Subscribers can now easily access class materials, such as those needed for Runway Remake, and they’ll soon be able to upload photos of things that inspire them, receive curated content from the company, and learn how to make similar products.
Bluprint also serves as the prizing sponsor for Project Runway, contributing to the largest prize in the show’s history. It will grant the winner $50,000 to put toward a design studio, along with his or her own digital series.
Runway Remake is available on the subscription-based Bluprint, with new episodes airing every Thursday through May 9.
